Pontix is an offensive stance rogue. I go with Ostance for the quicker attack and higher atr. I don't believe in defence as it is broken thses days with insta stance change and all the debuffs. For all the points you sink into defence, a scout or mage in precise stance totally nullifies it. The other reason is that I used Pontix for a lot of soloing/scouting which means you will be fighting a lot of other high def rogues/scouts. Concentrating on offence and dodge means that I hit harder and faster than def toons and have no trouble hitting them. ( Pontix has an atr of 1751 in O stance unstyled, 2105 precise unstyled which means he can hit anything.)
I made this toon around the time of the first expansion set and only recently do I see similar toons out there. ( cloth stalkers)
Basics on build
Elf Rogue BW Ranger ( if you like UA build this similarly as a bard)
Strating traits
-5 from all and then con to 50
Tough as nails.
Dex 175 ( 35 in game)( not sure on these numbers exactly but clos enough)
INT 155 ( 25)
Con 68 i think
Runes
Runecaster - resists
Black mask- passwall and backstab
BW- needed for Bw swords and one train into Bladedance to reveal stealthers
Gladiator- regen heal
Gear all con/con rings/ Con +5 all neck, con/con hood
33% resist LA ( +4 crush +4 pierce +2 pierce) chest arms legs
+10 dex +4 crush + 4 pierce gloves
+4 crush +4 pierce windlords
As you can see all regen gear and high pierce resists
weapons +165 atr -17 weapons speed of vamp BW swords
Vamp is my favorite proc as not only is it mot resisted but it heals you. This combined with high regen makes this a tough toon to kill. In an average fight I think you would need to hit Pontix for a total of at least 10K to kill him.
Skills
sword train until 3 for 1
BW until 2 for 1
LA non - you end up at around 40% just from base stats
dodge until 2 for 1
Beastcraft until 93 for Grasp of thorns
Hide/Sneak GM insta hide can save you.
Grasp of thorns GM- this is needed to kill scouts and other runners now that you are no longer faster than them. Also with the high int it hits for a total of around 600 when buffed. Great to cast on a toon that has low health and tries to run
Herb lore- auto GMed- keep this up at all times- 150% regen
Heal from Gladiator - 100% regen use this when u can in a fight, it stacks with the other regens
Ranger self dex/str buff GM
damage/ alac GM
Ranger def resist buff - on train gives you +5 resists
Rune caster resists JM- 25 % resist to cold/fire lightning
Backstab JM
What I didn't train
BW- find weakness, good but short duration and long recast and I ahve enough other abilties to worry about. Fient= no need as your atr is high enough.
wolf form- breaks with casting, and i find laggy. This a good heal though and should be considered for it weapon powers, I just find it too much work.
Play style basics
You can take out ANY toon you just need to know their abilities and timing your powers.
try to keep your 5 buffs up - dex/con/herblore, runecaster resists, dmage/alac, def resist.
Regen. always keep herb lore up. this plus TANs and the regen gear combined with gladiator heal give awsome regen. Just remember you have to be sitting or in walk mode for it to work well. When fighting I am constatntly toglling run off and only useing it when I need to chase someone. So hit gladiator on your self and go in walk mode.
Backstab - use normal backstab on rogues/healers and mages when sitting. Always use the Pel backstab on high con toons or standing healers and rogues. This back stab does a ton of damage over time and prevents regen.
Dodge buff - great if you are being hit.
Heals -Gladiator takes of bleed so you can insta hide. Beast craft heal is good as well. If you are taking a lot of damage go into walk ode, hit glad heal then use ranger heal. This with regen going is awsome, I can out heal a templar with all 3 dots on me/aoe going and sword.
Learn to use powerblocks, stuns and def debuff. learn timingand when to save them.
STUN WILL KILL YOU. stuns is the only thing that takes down this toon.
Quick tips vs other toons.
Druids- lots of them now. you have high crush and pierce resist ( thorns and earthquake will only do a little damage to you) and 25% lightning, so just go toe to toe and use PBs and stuns to stop healing, dont worry about blocking there ofensive spells, just prevent them from healing themselves. You can easily out regen and heal after they are dead.
Templars- make sure regen in going and in walk mode. when they get to around half health save your stun until they try to get wings up. Use def debuff because a lot are deflars. SPAM weapon powers and try to kill quick, because although you can outdamage them they will drain your stam.
Rogues- use def debuff and spam powers, easy kill. if they run go into precise and weapon style grasp of thorns. easy to catch up and kill them.
Scouts- get them to chase you away from group, snare them then crush. A lot of scout believe if they atr debuff you you can't hit them, just hit precise and own them. Vamps make me laugh, just snare and go toe to toe.
SD Scouts- only class to be wary of as they can backstab you when you are stealthed and stop your regen. then they can lock you down with weapon powers for around 12 seconds or more. You take a lot of damage before you even have the chance to counter attack them.
Warriors barbs- use pel backstab, if cant make sure regen is up, you are in walk mode and att speed debuff them and powerblock. you regen and vamp procs should allow you to out heal their damage.
Mages- stun pb and spam powers, quick kills
Natural flyers- if they get up in air use snare and insta hide. Remeber the snare does around 600 dmage so if they don't flee or recall this applied a couple of times can kill some classes.
This toon takes a while to learn to play and its capabilities. I will answer questions and ideas, but wont be in game for a while. Surprise is a great advantage and quick killing power. Learn to use all your weapon powers correctly, timing and learn to pick which target to attack first.
If you are dying you have a better chance going all out offensive and hoping for vamp procs than running.
Sorry it is not written well or very comprehensive, but it is enough to get those who requested it on their way. Building something unique that caters to your own play style is always fun. Ther are a lot tweaks an changes that can be made to this toon. Proc and hone bots make it better too, never even tried it with a doomey power buff, and that would be awsome.
